Cape Verdian People in Sao Tome and Principe,

During a visit to Sao Tome in June 2007, I had the opportunity to visit several plantations and spoke with many former Cape Verdian people. Their love for Cape Verde was clear, as was their overwhelming determination and desire to return or at least visit the homeland.

Some locals have now been allocated sections of land and are encouraged to farm their own produce for sale at local markets. A start for many who have worked so hard over the years.

The level and standard of accommodation on most of the Rocas or plantations, is very poor, unhealthy with little or no education for the children being born into such conditions.

We must set up a fund to help Cape Verdian people in Sao Tome and Principe share some of the refinements of life.

The fund has 5 main objectives:

1. To help provide additional healthcare
2. Assist with education for the children and parents.
3. Where appropriate, legally, socially and emotionally provide visits to Cape Verde for the most needed.
4. Where appropriate, assist with finding and supporting alternative lifestyle through job creation and living arrangements.
5. To work with other organisations employers, governments and families who support similar principles.

A membership group needs to be formed to progress the above items in a practical way.

This project is still in its infancy, and is seeking charity status, please donate so we can raise the £1000 needed to obtain this status.
